Definition

This fallacy happens when somebody considers only two seemingly opposite possibilities, excluding all other cases that may be possible, thus creating a closed choice when things could be more opened to discussion.

Canonical example

If a car is not black, then it must be white.

Denomination

This fallacy is also called either/or fallacy, and in some cases black-and-white thinking.
